Bloom is the newest product in our WB fam! Creating this pipe has been a labor of love and addressing your feedback. If you've been around the Wandering Bud universe for a while then you know Bloom was created to replace our previous one-hitter, Sprout.
Bloom is a member of our Studio Series: a collection of products that we offer 24/7 in our three Studio Series colorways: Lemongrass, Sky, and Vanilla Bean. Plus, our fourth color (a.k.a. the Seasonal Series) which we switch out every few months.
Let's take a deep dive to see how this groovy new piece went from idea to prototype to your new favorite piece to smoke from!
FROM IDEA TO REALITY
Sprout was the first pipe in the Wandering Bud world. We're talking hand-rolled coils of clay in Riley's basement… Although it has made a few design changes over the past years, it has been beloved by so many Buds in it's many forms.
But with progress comes change! We started to feel like it was time to retire Sprout for a new design that solves some of the common things we get feedback about. So, we started looking around for some inspiration and found it in some funky tapered candles. We loved the twisty shape and how it felt in our hands.
We then took the twisted taper candle design to our friend, Kylie from Okay Birch (our Dugout maker!), who is a whizz at 3D printing. Kylie made some plaster molds for us based on our Production Designer, Molly's, creation. And then, Bloom was born!
Bloom's design and this mold process allows us to make more pieces at a faster and more efficient rate. This means less waiting around for restocks!
SPROUT VS BLOOM
There are some major differences between our previous one-hitter, Sprout, and our new pipe, Bloom:
SIZE
We often heard feedback from our customers that although they love the one-hitter design, they were wanting a portable pipe with a few more hits. Bloom's bowl can now fit around three hits.
Bloom is also significantly longer and wider which means a bigger chamber.
RESILIANCY
Sprout was one of our most fragile pieces and least resilient in the drop testing. Because the walls of Sprout were so thin it made both creating and handling sprout precarious.
The grooves of Bloom help you keep a better hold on the piece whereas Sprout's smooth surface made it a bit slippery.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Bloom is a dry pipe. Just like any dry pipe, you use Bloom by packing about 3 hits in the small bowl then take a drag. Simple as that! Works for lefties or righties - no carb holes to worry about.
For those just starting out in this cannaworld, Bloom, is a perfect starter hit. The bowl fits about 3 smooth hits so you won't get overwhelmed as you learn best practices.

FAQs from our BUDs
Will I get scoobies?
The wavy shape of the interior chamber allows the smoke to smoothly spiral down to you but any scoobies that sneak through will settle (thanks gravity) in the valleys. No filter or screens needed! Our product testers have all mentioned they have never gotten a scooby while smoking from Bloom.
How smooth is the hit?
Look,
we're not scientists here at WB, but with our basic science skills
we make the following assumptions: like a rifle, the smoke will spiral down the chamber for that signature smooth hit
you get from any WB piece. The chamber on Bloom is longer and wider than Sprout but is still a very easy, smooth pipe to smoke from.
Will it roll off the table?
Basically, because the shape of Bloom is tapered something in the magical science gravity world makes it stop and recorrect itself. This was surprisingly not an intended feature but hey, sometimes you just strike gold! Watch this video to see what we're talking about!
